Our calendar will be similar to that of the School District of Philadelphia, with most of the same closures for breaks, teacher professional development, holidays, and summer vacation.
Below is a sample schedule of what a typical day might look like, with ample outdoor exportation time and flexibility within the schedule to respond to students’ needs and larger projects. We will either have aftercare available onsite, or support families in connecting with local afterschool programs that offer pick-up. 8:15 Morning meeting Social-emotional skills and community building 8:45 Literacy Reading and writing as a whole class, in small reading groups, with partners, and individually 10:15 Snack/Recess (outdoors when possible) 10:30 Math Whole group, small group, and games 11:45 Lunch/Recess (outdoors when possible) 12:30 Science, social studies, and/or cross-disciplinary explorations 1:15 Recess (outdoors when possible) 1:30Enrichment art, music, foreign language, dance, movement, etc. 2:40 Closing circleSocial-emotional skills and community building 3:00 Dismissal (with transition to after school programs)
